US bourse fared well across the board on Tuesday, with the three major indices setting new closing highs. The market looked forward to the upcoming inflation data. At close, the DJIA gained 196 points or 0.4% to 45,711. The S&P 500 increased 17 points or 0.3% to 6,512. The Nasdaq rose 80 points or 0.4% to 21,879, also hitting an intraday high.
The US Bureau of Labor Statistics revised down the non-farm payrolls additions for the 12 months ending last March by 911,000 from the original forecast, marking the largest revision since 2002, exceeding Wall Street's expectations. JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon commented that the US economy is waning, but it is unclear whether it is entering a recession.
